Active Holidays

Anyone who wants to include physical fitness and group sports into their holiday alongside nature and culture will find a wide range of activities in the Schaumburg Land.

Various cycle routes on cultural history topics are on offer to cyclists in addition to the popular Weser cycle path and most run away from the main roads on well-signposted paths. The handcar trips on the old railway route from Rinteln into Exter Valley are especially fun.

Hikers will also find many locally signposted circular walks into the forested mountain ranges of Deister and Süntel in addition to the Bückeberg and Weserbergland paths. These paths can also be used for jogging or the increasingly popular sport of Nordic walking. Recreational sport courses are available in many places, including Bad Nenndorf and Rinteln.

Canoe tours can moor on the River Weser at the points on the ‘Gelbe Welle ‘(‘yellow wave’) water route associated with the Weser Route. Swimming is possible in outdoor, indoor and thermal pools and in some former gravel ponds in the Weser Valley. Many other leisure activities are also on offer, including golf and gliding.
