Sunny cycling tours in Burgenland
Burgenland and cycling go together perfectly. This is particularly visible around Lake Neusiedl, where cyclists of all types ride the wonderful cycle paths along the shore and through the vineyards. Even further south, the province still offers the best conditions for cycling tours of all difficulties with the classic bicycle or the e-bike. We would like to share two tips with you: The Cherry Blossom Cycle Path offers wonderful views of Lake Neusiedl and on the Wine Idyll Cycle Path you can discover the beautiful southern Burgenland. Tip: Especially in spring, Burgenland is a great place to start the cycling season
.Cycling through the "Green Mark
The south of Styria in particular has developed into a stronghold of cycling tourism. The pleasant climate and the beautiful landscape have contributed to this. Although the landscape is quite hilly, if you are not in shape enough, you can simply grab an e-bike and roll through the region with the electric wind blowing through your back. But there are also beautiful tours in Ausseerland. Tip: In Styria, a bike tour ends classically at a Buschenschank, where all kinds of delicacies are offered, from home-produced wine to „Gselchten“. Afterwards you can relax in one of the many thermal spas.
Always along the water - cycling in Carinthia
Numerous routes from flat to hilly run around the lakes of Carniola and make cycling here a special pleasure. The tours range from sporty to enjoyable and can be made even more comfortable with an e-bike. A highlight is certainly the cycle tour around the Wörthersee. An insider tip, on the other hand, are the routes around Lake Klopein. Especially in the hot season, cycling along the waters in the south of Austria is a dream. A cycling holiday in Carinthia is a treat for body and soul!
Culinary highlights: Cycling in Lower Austria
The largest federal state in Austria has a lot to offer female cyclists: for example, probably the most beautiful section of the Danube Cycle Path through the beautiful Wachau Valley. If you only want to do one section or a day tour of the cycle path along the mighty river, you really won't make a mistake if you choose this section.
Lower Austria also offers other beautiful cycle paths along the Traisen and Pielach rivers. For a multi-day stay, where culinary delights are also desired, we can also highly recommend the Weinviertel. Around Retz and Laa, flat tours invite you to enjoy exploring the region and tasting the fine grapes here and there.
Cycling through the Salzburger Land
Lakes, mountains and wonderful river cycle paths – in Salzburg, too, fans of cultivated cycling will find a wide range of beautiful tours. There are flat routes especially in the north around the festival city. The beautiful cycle routes in the Salzburg Lake District are particularly worthy of mention. In the south it becomes increasingly mountainous. If you don't want to climb so many metres, it's best to stay on the cycle paths in the valleys. The Tauern Cycle Path runs along the Salzach and is also recommended for individual daily stages.
Between Enns and Danube - Cycling in Upper Austria
If you are not quite sure what kind of cycling terrain you are in the mood for, the best place to go is Upper Austria. There are cycle paths and tours for every taste: if you like it flat, follow the Danube Cycle Path or the Traun River and discover the history and culture of this versatile province. For those who prefer to conquer metres of altitude and look out over the countryside from above, we recommend a place on the Traunsee or Attersee lakes as a base for a cycling holiday. Not to be forgotten and recommended for all those who like it rustic and hilly: a bike tour in the Mühlviertel.
Cycling in the capital Vienna
Vienna is always worth a visit and offers plenty of variety. Why not plan a sporty stay? The Danube metropolis offers great routes especially for cyclists. The classic is a lap of the Danube Island, Vienna's leisure paradise. If you want to cycle around the entire island, you'll have to cover almost 70 kilometres and be in good shape. Of course, shorter variants can also be planned. Another beautiful cycle path leads into the south: The Thermenradweg is ideal for exploring the exciting region. Tip: Thanks to the good S-Bahn network, you can complete the Rückweg quite relaxed by train.
Exciting cycling tours in Tyrol
Due to the topography, especially sporty riders feel at home here, because there are more than enough metres to climb. Of course, you can also stay in the valleys, as it is mostly flat here. You will find beautiful tours along the Inn River, especially around Innsbruck. The cycle path through the Söllandl is also beautiful and leads through the villages on the Wilder Kaiser. A cycle tour of several days on the Via Claudia Augusta is one of the most beautiful experiences you can have on a bike.
Cycling in Ländle - Top routes in Vorarlberg
The westernmost federal state scores points above all with its wonderful cycle paths along the Rhine and Lake Constance across the borders into Switzerland and Germany. It's really super beautiful here! Along the Rhine you can also make detours to the beautiful town centres of Feldkirch, Dornbirn and Bregenz. The Bregenzerwald is known as a second wonderful cycling area. Here you will find well-maintained cycle paths and, of course, one or two mountain tours.
