The Way of St. James in Western Styria was opened on 25 July 2010 and is divided into eight stages. These were chosen so that they are manageable for the average hiker. Overnight accommodation is available at the end of each stage. Particularly athletic pilgrims will probably manage a larger daily workload; in the event of bad weather or sightseeing, the mileage will be less. For the most part, the trail leads along existing hiking and pilgrimage routes and partly along asphalted municipal and provincial roads.

The leisurely tour with beautiful views of the Raab valley and through shady mixed forests leads us in the footsteps of pilgrims to the beautifully situated Breitegg church on a hill. We are accompanied along part of the way by some wayside shrines of the two crossroads of St. Ruprecht an der Raab and Unterfladnitz. In and around St. Ruprecht an der Raab - located in the heart of the Raab Valley in Eastern Styria and not far from Graz - there are numerous cycling and hiking tours that take us into and through the Garden of Austria, as Eastern Styria is also affectionately called. The palette of our companions ranges from apples to beetle beans to wine, to name just a few.
The trail can be excellently combined with the Breiteggerweg!
