Routes in Odenwald

A natural and challenging hike takes us from Zwingenberg along the mountain road through the entire Odenwald forest in the footsteps of the Nibelungs, who, according to legend, also passed through the Odenwald on their way to the Hun empire.

The Vier-Länder-Weg from Donnersberg to Wertheim is a varied long-distance hiking trail through the regions of Rheinhessen, Bergstra;e and Odenwald, the four federal states of Rhineland-Palatinate, Hessen, Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg as well as the three wine-growing regions of Rheinhessen, Bergstra;e and Franconia. 

The European Long Distance Trail E8 runs from Dursey Head in Ireland across the sea to England and then crosses the European mainland almost diagonally to the Polish-Ukrainian border. It currently measures around 4390 km and is to be extended to the Black Sea in the future. In Germany, we walk along the E8 from the Dutch border near Nijmegen to Oberkappel in the German-Austrian border region.

The Limes Hiking Trail is one of the main hiking trails of the Schwäbischen Albverein and runs as a section of the German Limes Hiking Trail (Rheinbrohl – Bad Gögging) from Miltenberg to Wilburgstetten.

The German section of the European long-distance hiking trail E1 runs well signposted once across Germany – from Flensburg in the north to Konstanz in the south.

This eventful route takes us from the Saarland through the Palatinate Forest, the Ried and the Odenwald to the Main. The individual stages can be quite hilly, which we should always keep in mind when planning the respective daily routes.

Virtually gradient-free tour from the source of the Neckar near Villingen-Schwenningen to its confluence with the Rhine near Mannheim.

Die 14 Kilometer lange Tour ist im Vergleich zu den vorherigen Etappen landschaftlich offener und weiter. Lediglich bei der Burg Guttenberg führt der Weg durch Waldgebiet. Historische Gebäude säumen den Weg der schlussendlich direckt am Neckar entlang führt.

The Odenwald-Vosges hiking trail connects the two European long-distance hiking trails E1 and E2. The German section through the Odenwald low mountain range is managed by the Odenwaldklub e.V..

We can look forward to an easy circular tour south of Buchen in the beautiful Odenwald forest.
